Pastoral Ministers of Care visit the sick, the elderly, and the dying in hospitals and nursing homes. Through their presence and their bringing of Holy Communion, they offer emotional and spiritual support on behalf of the parish community. Those who serve in this ministry must be at least eighteen years of age, baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church, registered members of St. Joan of Arc parish and living in harmony with the teachings of the Church. Ministers of Care must receive certification by participating in a twelve-hour formation program sponsored by the Diocese of Joliet. They must also attend occasional formation sessions on the parish level.
