The Illinois General Assembly has
passed the Colleen O’Sullivan Law, which can be read at:
http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/publicacts/93/093-0910.htm This
law requires all indoor facilities used for physical fitness meet the
following:

By July 1, 2005, adopt and
implement a written plan for responding to medical emergencies and
-
By July 1, 2006:
a. Have at least 1 AED on
premise,
b. Have a trained AED user on staff, and
c. Properly test and maintain all AEDs.
The first violation is a written
warning and subsequent violations are $1500 to $2000 for the 2nd
violation and at least $2000 for subsequent violations.
Upcoming Classes
St. Joan of Arc has 3 Automatic
External Defibrillators (AED) around campus. In order to ensure that
we always have a trained AED user on site the following training
sessions have been set up:

October 13th, 2005

October 15th, 2005
Class is 3 hours long and the cost
will be no more than $20. You will be reimbursed $10 by the
Athletic Association upon completion of the course. Call
